Guitar Infirmary is a professional and full service guitar shop located in Auburn, Indiana. We serve Northeastern Indiana, Southern Michigan, Northwestern Ohio, and anyone interested in our guitars, guitar products, amps, and luthier (guitar repair or guitar restoration) services.
Our guitar store is the brainchild of Joey O. (guitarist), Jeff Kempf (luthier) and Pete Kempf (businessman). Whilst Auburn has had music stores in the past, there has never been anything like Guitar Infirmary. Our beautiful, first class, 2000 sq. ft. facility, that houses our knowledgable, experienced, and professional staff is ready to make your guitar dreams come true!
We offer a full service guitar storefront that includes a complete line of guitars, equipment, and accessories, guitar repair, guitar restoration, guitar lessons. All guitar repairs, modifications and hot rodding will be done by luthier Jeff Kempf. Guitarists will be able to recieve a higher level of repair quality than anything that's ever been available in Northeast Indiana.
Jeff Kempf studied guitar repair and restoration at the Galloup School of Luthier in Big Rapids, MI. He graduated in December of 2005. After graduation, he provided luthier services out of his home for Joey O's students, and others. Currently working within the Guitar Infirmary shop, he is providing everything from basic guitar setups to bridge reglues.
Joey O. has worked with members of: David Bowie, Billy Idol, The Rembrandts, Gino Vannelli, Santana, King Crimson, Rick Springfield, Doyle Bramhall, The Verve Pipe, The Drifters, Larry Carlton, Mr. Mister, Richard Marx, Pezband, Off Broadway, Jimmy McNichol, Art in America, Tommy Tu-Tone, Producer Bill Drescher, Manager Joe Gottfried/Carman Productions and many more.
Joey's focus is on intermediate to advanced guitar students. His teaching specialties include blues, classic rock, rock and roll and finger picking/classical styles. His sources of inspiration include The Beatles, Freddie King, Eric Clapton, Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, Queen, Mike Garson/Mick Ronson/David Bowie, XTC, The Raspberries/Eric Carmen, Chopin, Debussy, Todd Rundgren, Luther Allison, Peter Green, Tommy Bolin, Led Zeppelin, and many others.
Joey O. has been featured in such magazines as Guitar World (New York), Music Connection (Los Angeles), Metro Times (Detroit), Whatz Up (Fort Wayne) and many more. He has endorsements with Fender Guitars/Amps, D'Addario Strings, Planet Waves Cables, and Seymour Duncan Pickups. Joey has played everywhere from the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles to touring in Germany.
Pete Kempf is a partner in Mid-City Office Systems and The Guitar Infirmary.
He has been working in information technology since 1974 - 6 years at NCR, 10 years at McDonnell Douglas, 4 years at
Imaging Concepts and the last 13 years with Mid-City.
Throughout his career Pete has managed technical and sales staff. Pete is a Tri-State University graduate and is active in several community organizations.
He has opened for: Van Halen, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, Billy Idol, UFO, James Brown, Humble Pie, Loverboy, Foghat, Leslie West, Edgar Winter, Henry Lee Summer, Koko Taylor, Indigenous, Kansas, Tommy Castro, Leon Russell, Rick Derringer and many others. A few others are Duke Robillard, Duke Tomatoe, Larry Garner, Phil Guy, Studebaker John, Cub Koda, Dick Wagner, Harper, Head East and many more.
For all of you Stevie Ray Vaughan fans, Joey O. had the distinct honor of being asked to audition for the Arc Angels prior to their break-up. He was also asked to audition for the Black Crowes, Canned Heat and Jellyfish.
